Kongress Digitale Städte – Digitale Regionen

Online workshop

Artificial intelligence in our cities and regions

23.11.2023, 1:00 pm – 2:45 pm
online

Artificial intelligence (AI) is changing our world. At least since the launch of ChatGPT, the opportunities and risks posed by this technology have been discussed in the general public. We took up this theme and discussed with experts how AI can be used in smart municipalities and regions.

Together with international experts we looked at:

  • What is the state of the art?
  • What use cases already exist?
  • Where does AI generate concrete added value in municipalities?
  • What does it take to use AI profitably and responsibly?
  • Can small and medium-sized municipalities also use AI?
  • And where is the journey going?

Digital Sovereignty in Europe

1.00 pm - 2.30 pm
Chair: Dr. Mohammad Gharesifard, EUROCITIES

In the digital age cities and regions are being transformed into new types of digitized living spaces. This process must be designed with and for citizens, and be aligned with European values and rights. Digital technologies and data are not just abstract topics, they are important tools for designing these new processes and goals.

How can data and digital technologies be used so that they contribute to strengthening democracy and lead to new forms of civic participation? How should the newly emerging data and digital world be designed in order to strengthen the control citizens have and to develop democracy as a way of life and culture in a contemporary manner? We will get to know and discuss approaches and aspects from different cities and regions in this workshop.
